Making of a monument to Vatroslav Jagić was followed by a constant misfortune

Many misfortunes are mentioned in a story of Vatroslav Jagić's monument.

Honouring one hundred years past Jagić’s birthsday, the people of Varaždin decided to comission the making of a monument dedicated to Jagić. But the price was higher than they had planned. The deadlines were overstepped. When the monument was finally finished, it fell due to its weight and ruined one apartment in Ilica, Zagreb. Fortunatelly, the monument was not damaged. However, during its moving to Varaždin the workers did damage the monument. In the attempt to conceal their mistake, they tried to fix it by themselves. For that reason, the left leg of the monument is shorter and stretches in an unnatural way: both legs are stretched, the right in front of the left.

After all those problems, the monument was put in its place. And then it was noticed that it had a female coat, with buttons on the left side.
