Cezanne's still life with apples, Van Gogh's sunflowers, Monnet's water lilies, Degas's ballerinas, Prstec's angels. Indeed, after almost 3 decades of painting a characterictic angel in a Baroque surroundings motifs, artist Željko Prstec has provided his home town with a special, permanent place in art history and a determinant: the city where angels sleep.
His years-long idea about the Angels Museum in Varaždin finally came true on 13 May 2011. the artwork and actions of Željko Prstec have been going on under the motto „Varaždin, the city where angels sleep“. The motto and the idea were copyrighted and recognized in the public as part of the „Anđelinjak“ project. Just as angels speak all languages, his installations speak out to everyone, regardless of their nationalities, religion or origins.
