Vineyards, forests, meadows, orchards and green hills accentuate the picturesqueness of this area with a specific dialect, tradition, culture and very hospitable people. If you come to Bednja, visit the pearl of Zagorje, the castle Trakošćan.
In the early 19th century Juraj Drašković renewed it, making it a residential castle, which today represents the preserved ensamble of Romantic park and residential architecture, with the original interior design giving it a special value. There you can see the knights and hunting hall, the music salon, Julijana Erdoedy's painting studio, a gun collection with guns from the 15th to the 19th century, well preserved furniture made for the renewed castle, but also the furniture from the earlier years.
Due to a strain of lucky circumstances (the wind in Ravna Gora is an ally to all paragliders, and its rocky terrain is perfect for climbers; numerous footpaths cycle trails; the diverse offer- „Diana“ hunting grounds where one can hunt wild boars, deer, pheasants and rabbits, fishing at the castle lake); the beautiful intact nature- here you can still see around 30 orchids blossoming; its location in relation to the main traffic routes: the Zagreb-Maribor-Vienna motorway, its location 70 km away from Zagreb and around 40 km away from Varaždin) Trakošćan is one of the most visited tourist destinations of continental Croatia.
